MACARTHUR'S "DUTY, HONOR AND COUNTRY" SPEECH TO WEST POINT. This group contains a very scarce poster known as the General MacArthur Duty, Honor & Country poster. This original printing has the reproduced autograph of General MacArthur under the quote from MacArthur rather than to the right side as normally seen. Poster depicts General MacArthur's hat with the text of the speech below. This lot also includes an old photograph of the presentation of a framed speech by MacArthur, a medal issued to commemorate April 19, 1951, the date of MacArthur's farewell address, a Douglas MacArthur commemorative medal, a signed letter by General Courtney Whitney to Mr. Beardsley of the National Observer talking about the speech, and a record album with a recording of the West Point speech and the address to Congress. CONDITION: poster remains flat in the original shipping box; however, it does show insect damage to the edges. Medals show light wear. Photos have glue residue on the reverse. (02-16071/BF). $300-500.
