NATIONALE HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 245PY65162. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale under contract for the National Guard of Panama in 1982. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE". Top of the slide is marked "REPUBLICA DE PANAMA/ (PANAMANIAN COAT OF ARMS)/ GUARDIA NACIONAL", just ahead of the rear sight. Right side of the frame is marked with Belgian commercial proofs on the forward trigger guard web. Metal components exhibit a black enamel type finish, which was applied over a parkerized finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Left side of the frame is mounted with a lanyard ring. Fixed half-moon blade front sight, with dovetailed square notch rear sight. All numbers are matching via "1162" and are present on the frame, slide, and bbl. in the "stacked" fashion. Slide stop lever is a blued replacement. MAGS: 1 13-rd. mag., with smooth parkerized body and blued button floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their black enamel finish, exhibiting areas of flaking, wear, and handling marks overall that show through to parkerizing, with areas of edge wear that show through to gray patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner.
