CASTLE. Cal. 66. NSN. Bbl. 9" is not proofed. Lock has slightly rounded flat plate w/ straight bottom line & features serpentine cock, sm. bridled friction frizzen & feather spring w/ spear finial. Lockplate marked w/ broad arrow under pan & engraved w/ the initials "GR" surmounted by a crown in front of cock. Rear of plate is engraved "DUBLIN" "CASTLE". Full length stock is pinned to bbl. & has raised carved apron around bbl. tang. Brass furniture includes short rnd. spurred brass buttcap w/ boss, raised & rounded serpentine sideplate & raised trigger guard having foliate finial. Trigger guard bow marked "F/2". Replacement ramrod w/ old brass tip is held by beaded brass pipe & matching thimble. CONDITION: good, partially restored. Bbl. & lock cleaned to relatively smooth pewter gray. Lock still in original flint except that cock is a later cast replacement. Touch hole was bushed many years ago. Stock has some missing slivers on left side of bbl. channel & chips around lockplate & has had bottom 2 1/2" of grip replaced. Brass is nicely patinated.
