Cal. 28. S# 39. Bbl. 26.5" w/ brass pin front sight. The Perry Civil War carbine made in Newark, New Jersey is quite rare. Confederates made a brass frame copy which is more often seen. This cane gun is just as rare w/ few examples known. The patented tilting breech is most unusual. The only markings on this gun is S# found on bbl. & frame. Carbines were 54 cal. & rifled, whereas this cane gun is 54 cal. smooth. CONDITION: fair to good overall. Matching & complete. Iron patina w/ pitting. Breech does not lock & appears to have seen lots of use. Hammer holds cock well, but nipple is shortened & will not mate w/ the hammer when firing w/ about 1/8" gap. Grips have chips at rear toes exposing steady pins, right grip is missing its ferrule. Clear smooth bore. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19304/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
