(1932). Cal. 8x57 JS. S# 1052. Bbl. 20". Recorded in "Mauser Bolt Rifles", 3rd Edition, c.1976, by Ludwig Olson, page 273. Left side of the bbl. is marked "7.92 X 57", followed by "1052", a Czech Rampant Lion, and the 2-digit year of mfg. "32" (1932). Left side of receiver is marked with an additional Czech Rampant Lion proof, with "CS. ZBROJOVKA AKC.SPOL./ BRNO." marked on the receiver wall. Metal components exhibit a blue finish, save for the bolt body and the double set triggers, which are polished in-the-white. Checkered wood pistol grip buttstock features a cheek rest, stag forearm cap, blued steel grip cap, as well as a grooved blue steel buttplate. Numbers appear to be matching via an assembly number "78", which is present on the receiver, underside of bolt root, left side of the trigger guard / mag. housing, as well as on the interior of the stock. Receiver is mounted with a dual-claw "OPTIKOTECHNA" marked 4x scope. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some scattered superficial handling marks, some light thinning, as well as a couple of small spots of light to mild pitting and oxidation overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some very light pitting on the lands, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Wood stock exhibits scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall. Action functions properly. Scope retains a clear optic. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy, ASAC. (24-1831/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
