D-GUARD BOWIE. 14.5" overall, 9.5" clip point blade. Pictured & described on pages 238-239 of Norm Flayderman's monumental "THE BOWIE KNIFE". This is only the second D-guard version of a Burger bowie known. Other known examples have simple cross guards, but all the blades have a characteristic long bevel past the clip point almost all the way to the back and riveted grip slabs. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of pages from "The Bowie Knife". CONDITION: very good overall. Blade has been cleaned and buffed and only a partial maker's mark can be seen showing just a few letters from "RICHMOND-VA". PROVENANCE: Norm Flayderman family collection. (02-24508/JS). NON-GUN. $5,000-7,000.
