REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 62241. Bbl. 6 1/2" pinned having company markings on top plus caliber on left side along with "U. S. SERVICE CTG'S.". Integral sight base with Patridge blade; frame contoured adjustable rear sight. Mfg. 1903-1904 with round butt 4 screw side plate as K frame. Only 28,645 units total and very few target models. Yoke has spring loaded plunger to help hold open cylinder. Most examples are round butts with the first square butts about number 58000. Matching numbers on barrel, frame and extractor. Cylinder ends with "3" rather than "1". Checkered walnut service style grips without markings or medallions. Case colored smooth faced trigger and hammer with finely checkered spur. CONDITION: fair to good finish with imperfections of peppery oxidation, light scratches, high point wear, patina in grip area, notable finish loss on cylinder plus cylinder turn line. Near excellent bore and good hand worn grips. Fine mechanical functioning with near excellent timing. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of George Staden S&W Member #3451. (25-45/NW).
