REVOLVER. Cal. 357 Mag. S# 61692. Bbl. 5" with pinned Patridge blade front sight; factory frame contoured adjustable rear. Shipped June 3, 1940 to Lakeside Irrigation Co. of Eagle Lake, TX. References state 1,400 Non- Registered models were made from 1935 to 1941 when production ceased due to concentrated war efforts. Fitted with standard width serrated trigger and finely checkered hammer with fine concentric grooves on sides; both case colored. Matching numbered barrel, frame, cylinder, grips and extractor. Grips are checkered Magna style with diamond center around grip screw. Locating disks are machined in-the-white having S&W name with patent dates; large silver medallions. Blued finish with finely checkered top strap and top of barrel rib. Numbered within the 44 Hand Ejector series having a 5 screw N frame with 6 groove grip straps plus yoke detent to facilitate loading by assisting to hold yoke open. Later feature of large S&W monogram on sideplate plus "MADE IN U.S.A." on lower right front of frame. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter of 2020 supporting above info along with additional general model history. CONDITION: light cylinder turn line, very faint thinning at muzzle plus light pinprick oxidation on side plate and to a lesser degree on opposite side of frame. Overall very good to near excellent with factory quality refinish having bright blued metal surfaces. Grips are very good to excellent with one small mark on butt of left grip. Near excellent bore and timing. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Jon Thomas, Gunsport, LTD. (25-1117/NW). CURIO. $4,500-6,000.
