Cal. 45 ACP. S# 130. Bbl. 5 3/8". Standard configuration Savage 1907 pistol in .45 ACP made by Savage to compete against the Colt. Production limited to 288 pistols, this one (#130) is listed by serial number on page 261 in the book: "U.S" Military Automatic Pistols" by Scott Meadows, reported as being in a private collection, having a serial number just beyond the group, issued to Troop I, 3rd Cavalry, Fort Wingate, New Mexico. After testing, the guns were reworked and sold commercially. Part of the refinish included removing most of the slide legend, leaving only " CAL .45". The only other marking on the gun are the "SAFE" and "FIRE" at the rear of the frame. In this case, all parts matched to #130 except the grips and the mag. (S# 110). Disassembly shows all matching parts, with many small parts appearing to have been renumbered, the left grip struck with several S#s including 130, the right grip with a faint "5". MAGS: 1 correct 8-rd. mag. CONDITION: 99%+ as a post Tryon restoration. Previously fire blued parts are now blued as is the hammer. Mag. release polished and in-the-white. Grips oil darkened with slightly blunted checkering, numbering as previously noted. Mag. freshened with new blue. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. A very attractive and classic Savage 1907 .45 pistol, as made for U.S. military testing. (25-3527/LMA). CURIO. $11,000-16,000.
