1473 RARE SOUTH KOREAN CONVERSION TYPE 99 ARISAKA BOLT

ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 36319. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Short ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1500m. Bayonet lug is unnumbered & bolt parts are mismatched. This rifle is one of the Type 99s rechambered for the South Korean military & police during the Korean War. These rifles were overhauled during that conflict & it is stated that no thought was given to matching numbers during the overhaul process. Receiver top has ground mum & Type 99 markings. Left side of receiver has "US CAL 30", serial number, 6th series & Nagoya markings. Receiver is also notched to accommodate the 30-06 round. Bolt operation is stiff but it does indeed chamber a 30-06. Asian hardwood stock set w/ two piece butt. Left side sling swivels w/ South Korean marked green canvas sling. Cleaning rod present but cleaning rod button & one nosecap screw head are missing. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: aftermarket black hardcase, National Denki Type 30 bayonet w/ scabbard & Korean modified US green canvas frog. Also included are several documents detailing the history of these conversion rifles & the bayonet scabbard modifications. CONDITION: stock set shows a couple notable chips, gouges & a couple deep scratches on left side between bands. Stock set otherwise shows scattered dings, handling marks, gouges & staining. Metal is mostly a dull gray patina w/ some pitting, slot damage on screws & scattered oxidation. Very good plus bright bore. (23-7602/MJC). CURIO. $1200-2200.
