MILITARY CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 1778203. Irwin Pedersen was unable to meet the quality standards of their contract which was taken over by Saginaw. IP parts were gradually used up as production continued making a mix from both companies. 18" barrel marked behind front sight " UNDERWOOD / 6-44 / flaming bomb". Stamped adjustable aperture rear sight marked "I.R. CO. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver has the tooling hole on the left rear unique to "IP" and"SG" production. Barrel band with bayonet lug marked "AI". 6 o'clock slide marked "PI" inside and"U" on bottom. Flat "EM-Q" bolt. Fabricated trigger housing marked " BE-B".Rotary safety. Mag. catch marked "HI". Straight hammer marked "W". 2 rivet handguard marked "RSG". Low wood oval cut buttstock marked in sling slot "RSG" and "77 C". Boxed "RIA" /"B" on left side of butt. Encircled "P" proof under grip. Early green web sling. MAGS: 1-15 rd. G.I. CONDITION: Stock set has light wear and staining of its arsenal rework finish. Metal retains 60% of its original worn finish. Very good shiny bore.
