Overall length: 14 3/8". Blade length: 7". This is an exceedingly rare example of the Case V-42 stiletto originally issued in WWII to the Ship’s Landing Force of the USS Omaha. There were only 70 of these V-42s in the original issue to the Omaha. The spear point blade has a medial ridge for approx. 5 1/2". There are thumb grooves on the ricasso & “CASE” is stamped below the thumb groove. There is a steel crossguard w/ leather on top. The crossguard has been reinforced by the owner utilizing cotton thread & sailor’s knots. Stacked leather washer grip w/ diamond decoration cut out. Skull crusher pommel. Original leather scabbard w/ “USS OMAHA” obliterated as required to prevent identification of the ship. The serial number, “4-59” is still stamped into the scabbard. An extremely rare & historic fighting knife of WWII. There is an illegible name cut into the back of the scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish. Hilt shows light wear overall. Scabbard shows light to moderate wear w/ snap & belt loop intact & functional. (02-15880/BF). $3,500-5,000.
