ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. .45. S# 1180. This is a standard 1st Model US Government purchased Schofield Army revolver w/ 5” fluted rib bbl, surcharged “US” on butt. Revolver has standard patent markings on either side of bbl. lug. Schofields saw limited US military service & were sold as surplus, replated & purchased by civilian market. Most saw hard use in the West as was this example; purchased by Wells Fargo which is correctly stamped “W.F & CO. EX” over the replated nickel. CONDITION: very good-fine overall & in original configuration. Finish as used by Wells Fargo, retaining about 80% of the old nickel finish. Grips well fit w/ hand worn patina, tacking marks & moderate edge wear. Matching serial numbers on the butt, bbl., cylinder & grips. Mechanically functional, crisp discernible rifling.
