Overall length 12 1/3". Blade 7 1/4". Mfg. by Camillus Cutlery Company. This knife was designed by USMC Lt. Col Clifford Shuey in 1941. The design was heavily based on the famous Sykes Fairbairn fighting knife. Only 14,370 of these fighting knives were produced making this a rare piece for the collector. Ricasso marked "CAMILUS CUTLERY CO. CAMILUS N.Y." & w/ an etched "USMC" scroll. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked tan leather holster. CONDITION: Handles & crossguard are a dull gray patina w/ some scattered oxidation. Blade remains partially bright w/ some scattered light oxidation. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18457/MJC). $1000-1500.
