A superb and rarely seen relic of Imperial Japan is this fine, lightly used aircraft propeller measuring 83 1/2" long and 6 1/4" across the hub. The tip and leading edge are covered in metal for 30 1/4". The edges of the metal border are scalloped, with three rivets in each scallop, and there are 15 rivets in each tip. The entire propeller is painted a very dark bluish green. The hub has a central 5/8" hole surrounded by six smaller holes. The backside of the hub has the same number of holes but has 12 rays emanating from the central hole. The face of the hub is stamped "1" on the left and "2" on the right. Slightly further to the left is the number "_304". One side of the hub has Japanese characters and reads, "15-6-28 D=2.1.2 0 P=_.0 4 4" and the other side of the hub reads, "K X B I ____I-II ___4 105 W=B _ _ C K" with scattered Japanese characters. CONDITION: The propeller appears to be used but shows light wear overall. (02-23670/BF). $500-1,500.
