FLAREGUN. Cal. 28mm. S# 1501. Numbers match on top of the breech and below the selector lever. Frame is marked on left side over trigger guard "P.A.T." / "NO. 93006". All markings are enhanced in white. The top of the breech has a marking consisting of three circles orbiting a large central circle. A series mark and the Imperial Navy anchor acceptance mark. The three 28mm smooth bore bbls. are 4" long and tip down to open. The breech mechanism comprises cocking and selector levers to allow the desired color of flare to be discharged. Safety lever on the left side. Smooth hardwood grip panels. Lanyard ring at butt. CONDITION: grips have light wear and staining. Metal parts have a black finish with wear, thinning, and numerous spots of light oxidation and fine pitting. Grip frame and trigger guard have a brown patina appearance. Bores have a dark, oxidized appearance. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (02-21331/RW). $500-700.
