GUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 15690. The 28" barrels fitted w/ matted game rib are engraved "Krupp Fluid Steel made by" "A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA." on tops. Bbl. flats stamped w/ grade, S# & Fox proof. Bottoms of bbls. marked for Krupp fluid steel. Casehardened boxlock action features automatic safety, Fox rotary bolting system & dbl. triggers. Action engraved in early "B" style w/ unbordered bird scenes on sides w/ feeding quail on left & standing snipe on right. Bottom of action engraved w/ a spray of scroll. "ANSLEY H. FOX" is deeply stamped on both sides. This engraving style was in use until around 1914 when the newer lg. scroll engraved receiver was introduced. This early gun is fitted w/ lg. rnd. ejector trips. Forend iron is marked "PATENTS" "PENDING". Gun has been restocked & this straight grip stock is of a very fine piece of crotch figured American walnut. It measures 13 7/8" over Pachmayr basket weave solid red "Whiteline" pad. Side panels are checkered & borderless fleur de lis pattern checkering is at grip. Matching wide beavertail ejector forend w/ inlet ebony tip has Fox's Deeley type release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .728", left: .729". Restriction: right: .011" (IC), left: .010" (IC). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .033", left: .033". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 3/8+". LOP: 13 7/8". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: good as refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack. Action retains around 40% original casehardening color. Newly made stocks retain nearly all of their hand rubbed oil finish w/ a few light marks. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Ejectors are slightly out of time. A glow worm type sight has been added behind original bead w/ drilled & tapped hole. Bbls. appear to be cut, however some choke is present. A factory letter might be revealing. (22-5993/MGM).
