RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# NSN. Bbl. 19 5/8" having steel "shark fin" blade front sight; blued with adjustable rear sight on its receiver cover extension. Mfg. March 1966 (3,792 units) to celebrate Remington's anniversary. Just over 1 million Nylon 66's made from 1959 to 1990 which is the rifle that Tom Frye set a world record with by shooting 2.5" square wooden blocks hand tossed into the air. For 14 days in October of 1959 he shot 100,004 out of 100,010 blocks. Mohawk Brown nylon stock has checkered panels plus white diamonds on sides of forend. Model designation is molded into the grip cap. Tube feed with cartridge insertion accomplished through buttplate. Receiver cover grooved to facilitate scope mounting. CONDITION: very good bluing with some peppery oxidation on barrel in area forward of forend and loss on top of front sight. Stock is generally very good with some light handling marks. Gold highlights on left side of receiver cover have "washed out" onto the surrounding matte surface. Near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (25-5937/NW). CURIO. $750-1,000.
