. Cal. 44. S# 2861. Bbl. 8" oct. w/ cone front sight. Six shot rnd. cyl. Blue finish w/ brass triggerguard. Left side of frame below cyl. is marked by a laying down "C" followed by "48". Left side of triggerguard has "B" inspection mark. Two piece walnut grips. Estimated 6,000 mfg. in 1862. CONDITION: bbl. retains 25% dull fading blue. Action has faded to a light brown patina, showing sm. spots of corrosion. Grips show wear w/ numerous handling marks & sm. dents. Good mechanics. Bore is generally bright having strong rifling w/ scattered pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins). (01-20648/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
