Cal. 7.62x54R. S# 521263. Bbl. 24 3/4". Rifle has been tastefully sporterized utilizing a Remington-made Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant which has matching numbers & carries a great deal of original blue finish. The bbl. is marked on top over chamber w/ Imperial eagle, "REMINGTON ARMORY / 1917 / NO. 521263". Hex receiver w/ Imperial eagle modified on the left side by the addition of 3 holes for an unknown sighting system. The original rear sight has been replaced by a modern Remington open sporting type. Ramp front sight attached by screw appears to also be Remington production. Front sight carries a brass bead. Original bolt handle removed & replaced by a Model 1903 Springfield bolt handle attached by hobbyist gunsmith type welding. The stock is a modern sporter configuration w/ pistol grip & raised cheekpiece. Schnable forend tip, steel grip cap & buttplate. Front swivel is 1" standard. Rear swivel is 1" QD. CONDITION: stock has light wear & handling marks throughout. Notable missing chip behind receiver tang & also crack extending approx. 1" rear wood. Metal contains a large percentage of its original blue w/ light wear & tiny handling marks. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands & only a hint of frosting. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of George Staden S&W Member #3451. (25-29/RW). MODERN. $250-350.
