RIFLE. Featured in mutiple publications. Cal. 44-2 6/10" (44-100). S# 6228. Matching S#s are found on bottom of bbl., back of forearm & buttstock. Bbl. 34 3/8" round with rare and desirable Rigby flats measuring 13/16" in diameter at the muzzle. Spirit level globe front sight with long range Vernier rear sight with windage adj. mounted at heel of stock. Case colored action. Ebony tipped forend and pistol grip walnut stock features point pattern checkering and hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Scarce rifle, Pictured on page 179 of "Remington's No. 3 Hepburn" by Tom Rowe and on page 171 of "The Guns of Remington" by Howard Madaus. CONDITION: bbl. retains 70% blue blending with spots of corrosion. Sides and protected areas of action show 60% lightly faded case colors fading to gray in carry areas. Stocks have good finish and checkering showing small marks. Bore is generally bright with sharp rifling. (01-21585/DS). ANTIQUE. $13,000-17,000.
