Cal. 45-70. NSN. Remington's first production bolt-action firearm. The Keene had a manually cocked hammer. Estimated quantity of 5000 mfg. 1880-83. Bbl. 20", 2" shorter than standard carbine length. Mag. band mounted blade front sight & graduated leaf carbine rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Band fastened walnut stock w/ sling swivels & trapdoor carbine buttplate. CONDITION: bbl., receiver & mag. tube retain over 90% blue. Right side of bbl. & mag. tube show light dents. Bolt & carrier have bright finish. Hammer, forearm cap & buttplate retain over 70% case colors. Original wood finish shows light wear w/ deep scratches w/ scattered scratches & dents. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. (01-23413/DS).
