Cal. 45-70. NSN. Bbl. 20 1/2". Combination front sight w/ graduated leaf rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Bolt action rifle w/ external hammer having mag. cutoff on left side. Loading gate is mounted on floorplate forward of trigger guard. Band fastened walnut stock w/ trapdoor carbine buttplate. Left side of stock is stamped "US ID" referring to the frontier model issued to Native American police by the US Department of the Interior. Standard bbl. length of the frontier model was 24". Estimated quantity of 5,000 mfg. 1880-83. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: oiler & wood dowel held in stock compartment. CONDITION: over 60% fading blue. Trigger guard has series of small dents. Stock shows evidence of a rough refinish w/ thinning through comb & butt areas having numerous dents & gouges. Forearm has cracks extending from floorplate.
