ACTION PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 9064. Bbl. 8". Model 1861 "Old Model" Army single action percussion revolver mfg. by Remington. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. exhibits mostly illegible Remington mfg. and patent information, with "P" and "S" sub-inspector proofs stamped on the left flat at the breech. Left side of loading lever exhibits a "C" sub-inspector proof, with an additional "S" sub-inspector proof on the underside of the trigger guard. Metal components exhibit a cold blue finish overall. Brass trigger guard, with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Grips appear to have been lightly sanded and oiled at one time. German silver cone front sight with frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame (beneath the left grip panel), underside of the bbl., as well as on the rear face of the cyl. Interior of right grip panel exhibits a matching S# handwritten in pencil, with the S# on the left panel being illegible. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a mottled blue, brown, and gray patina overall, with some scattered spots of light to mild pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting moderate pitting primarily towards the breech, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions and indexes appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips are very good, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
