RIFLE. Cal. 50-45 CF. S# 466. Bbl. 32 1/2" rnd. with fixed front sight and folding leaf rear sight. Rolling block action has standard Remington patent markings on top top tang, last date is "APRIL 17, 1866". Left side is marked with the navy anchor. Right side has inspector markings "P/ F.C.W.". 2-band forearm and straight grip stock with steel musket buttplate. Peak markings consist of "U.S." above the screw with "G/ 466" between the screw and peak. Left side of stock is stamped "A/ 46". Slotted tipped iron wiping rod. A total of 498 mfg. 1868-1869. CONDITION: metal has faded gray appearance showing scratches and marks. Heavily sanded refinished wood shows numerous scratches, dents, and marks. Stock has added wood repairs on both sides of top tang with additional cracks and chips extending from the rear of the tang and toe of the buttplate. Sound action. Light to moderately pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-27028/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
