HIGH CONDITION. Cal. 10 Ga. S# 915. The 32" decarbonized steel bbls. are engraved "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILLION, NY" on wide concave plain rib w/ doll's head extension (the Remington model 1878 & 1879s are the only Whitmore guns that have an extension rib). Bbl. flats are stamped w/ S#. Case hardened action has patent dates on water table & is fitted w/ front spring locks w/ rebounding hammers having tall thumbspurs & no striker cups on noses. Action filed without fences is completely unadorned & unmarked. Straight grip buttstock of nicely stump figured American walnut measures 13 7/8" over plain steel buttplate w/ short top spur. Point pattern borderless checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend has flush mounted captive sidebolt in oval steel escutcheons. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .785", L .790". Restriction: R .030" (FULL), L .040" (EXTRA FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .047", L .046". STOCK: DAH: 3 1/8". DAC: 1 15/16". LOP: 13 7/8". CAST: Neutral. WEIGHT: 10 lb. 3 oz. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retaining approx. 70% original blue, considerably browned on sides at rear. Action retains 50-60% original case hardening color which was never vibrant. Bottom silvering & turning to gray. Locks & hammers retain well over 70% original color. stocks retain over 80% original varnish w/ some light marks & perhaps a little added oil on butt as maintenance. Checkering is lightly worn.
