Cal. 30 SPRINGFIELD 1906. S# 22802. Bbl. 24" having banded brass bead hooded sight, no provision for rear barrel sight plus early leaf spring Lyman 48 receiver sight on right side with knurled adjustment knobs; no sight disc. Barrel codes October 1931 (1930-1940); Special Grade version of basic Model 30 which is based on the Model 1917 Enfield with straight floorplate assembly rather than stepped, cocks on opening rather than closing, two stage trigger plus receiver has radiused contour at rear rather than machined with a sight; retains charging clip slot. Checkered walnut stock with wrap around forend checkering and multi point grip panels. Remington marked hard rubber grip cap, checkered factory steel buttplate, stock reinforcement bolt at recoil lug area and wide swivel bases. Receiver has wavy pattern at center of bridges and is not drilled and tapped for scope mounting. CONDITION: very good overall appearance of original finish; light function wear on bolt assembly with patina appearing shroud. Triggerguard assembly has faint pinprick oxidation. Small impact mark on bottom of barrel aligned with rear of sight base. Stock also is original finish with handling marks and nice checkering. Near excellent bore.
