TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 04858. Bbl. 28". Model 37 Rangemaster bolt action target rifle mfg. by Remington in 1947. Bbl. exhibits standard factory markings, with an "SS" (1947) date code marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body, which is polished in-the-white, and the safety lever, which is case colored. 1-piece plain wood pistol grip grip stock features a flat checkered steel buttplate and 3 1/4" hand stop rail, currently fitted with an aluminum hand stop. Stock appears to have been lightly sanded and oiled at one time. Redfield globe front sight (with circular insert) and Remington adj. aperture rear sight. Bbl. is mounted with 2 additional sight blocks at the rear. Bolt matches the receiver via "4858", which is electro-penciled on the underside. Mag. has been replaced with a single shot block. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting remnants of an older layer of lacquer, some scattered handling marks overall, with light thinning and scattered spots of pitting present on the bbl. Mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remains sound and presents nicely. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-695/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
