RIFLE. Cal. 308 Win. S# 195324. Bbl. 22". Model 740 Woodsmaster semi-automatic rifle mfg. by Remington in 1957. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Remington's 2-line mfg. and patent information, followed by the cal. designation, with a "DD" (September, 1957) date code marked towards the breech. Receiver and bbl. exhibit a blue finish overall, with the aluminum trigger guard exhibiting a black anodized finish. Grooved wood forearm and plain pistol grip buttstock with Red Head red ventilated rubber recoil pad. Wood furniture has been sanded and refinished at one time. Ramped aluminum beaded blade front sight with receiver mounted Lyman No. 66R adj. aperture rear sight. Rear sight dovetail is empty. Top of the receiver is mounted with a 4 7/16" scope rail. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: receiver retains fair to good amounts of its original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning fadint to brown patina, some scattered spots of light pitting, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Bbl. retains the majority of its original blue finish, exhibiting matching wear to the receiver towards the breech, with some scattered spots of wear. Edges of trigger guard exhibit light wear. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a chip on the right side stemming from the receiver. (26-2167/MLW). CURIO. $250-400.
