Cal. 35 Rem. S# 42898. Bbl. 22". Model 8 semi-automatic rifle mfg. by Remington circa. 1919. Top of the bbl. shroud is marked "MODEL 8", followed by Remington's 2-line mfg. and patent information. Top of the bbl. is marked ".35 REM." on the right side of the chamber area. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl. and bolt assembly, which are polished in-the-white. Sanded and refinished plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with plain steel buttplate. Underside of forearm is fitted with a sling swivel. Dovetailed Marbles Sheard brass tipped blade front sight and aftermarket single leaf flat top bar and natural white triangle rear sight (markings illegible, base is similarly contoured to the Lyman No. 6 special base), with Marbles flip-up aperture tang sight. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning fading to gray and brown patinas, scattered superficial handling marks, scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation, as well as scattered patches of light pitting overall. Relatively bright bore, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, while retaining good to strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with some gouging on the buttstock on either side around the buttplate area. (25-6602/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
