CONVERSION SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 50 Roberts CF. NSN. Bbl. 39". Conversion of Civil War Model 1861/1863 percussion rifled muskets using Rolling Block actions as done by Remington and other arms dealers. Quantities are unknown but are more frequently encountered than Springfield versions. Tang has Remington markings with last patent date of "APRIL 17, 1866". Fixed front sight with 2-leaf folding rear sight near the breech end of the bbl. 3-band forearm and straight grip stock, steel carbine buttplate is marked "U.S." at peak. Reproduction tulip tipped ramrod. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 19 contemporary mfg. unprimed brass centerfire .58 Roberts cases. CONDITIONS: metal finish has faded to mottled gray/brown showing spotted surface corrosion. Buttplate has a cleaned gray appearance. Stock and forearm have age darkened worn appearance with numerous scratches, marks, and small dents. Bore is generally bright with strong rifling. (01-27031/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,100-1,750.
