Cal. 44-40. S# 1057. Bbl. 20", marked on the left side in front of the receiver with "P" and behind the barrel band with "P". Receiver Tang is marked "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY ILLION, N.Y.". The last patent date is "MARCH 18, 1874." Folding carbine rear sight graduated to 500 yards. Blade-type front sight. Flat-breech block base. Sliding extractor. The sides of the receiver are not stepped. The hammer spur has been extended and thinned. Saddle bar on the left side of the receiver. The saddle ring is not present in the bar. Two-piece walnut stock. Forend is retained with a single band. Buttplate is a heavy-cast construction. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear and handling marks with an added finish. Metal has early arsenal rework, with blue turning gray and patina. Bore has oxidation and fine pitting throughout, with strong lands.
