Cal. 44-40. S# 559. Bbl. nearly 5 3/4" which is common, although advertised as 5 1/2". Semi-circular blade front sight. Model 1890 style ejector housing lacking the distinctive Model 1875 web. 6-shot rnd. cyl. Grip and trigger guard lack any visible caliber marking. 2-piece checkered walnut grips with lanyard ring at butt. Assembly # "242" is found on the bottom of the ejector housing. # "559" is found on the inside of the grip frame. Total of less than 1,000 revolvers mfg. 1888-1889, apparently all for the distributor Hartley & Graham whom assumed control of Remington Arms Company in 1888. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to gray showing handling marks and spots of light pitting. Grips show heavy wear and marks. Sound mechanics. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling.
