Cal. 44. S# 3521. Bbl. 7 1/2” octagon w/ cone style front sight. Round six shot cyl. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & loading lever. Major parts have inspection marks “B”. 2 piece walnut grips w/ clear cartouche on left panel. U.S. contract for 5,000 revolvers was delivered in 1865, too late to be issued in the Civil War. Francis Bannerman acquired almost all of them & sold them as surplus over the following years. Many of these revolvers remain in fine to excellent condition. CONDITION: fine. Bbl. & action retain 30% blue blending w/ areas of flaking & gray patina. Hammer & loading lever show faint traces of case colors. Grips show moderate wear w/ handling marks. Sound action. Bores are generally bright w/ strong rifling showing scattered spots of light pitting. (01-22109/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
