A rare WWII Romanian Order of Michael the Brave breast badge with swords as issued in 1944. This 4th Type badge is heavily gilded bronze with exquisite deep blue enamel on the face. The middle of the cross features an open work crown above a monogram "M" for King Michael the 1st, with the date "1941" below. The order was created by King Ferdinand the 1st in 1916 during the First World War. It is Romania’s highest bravery award & is named in honor of Michael the Brave who was a 16th century military commander. Approx. 15 of this rare award were bestowed during the Second World War.
