RIFLE. Cal. 8x60mm. S# 110739. Bbl. 24". Mauser action bolt action sporting rifle mfg. by Rudolf Sauerbrey. Right side of bbl. is marked "RUDOLF SAUERBREY", with "PRENSLAU." marked on the left. Receiver is marked with German commercial Crown/U, Crown/B, and Crown/N proofs, as well as with the S# on the left side of the chamber. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Checkered wood pistol grip buttstock with cheek rest and schnabel tip forend. Receiver features a dual claw scope mount with double-set triggers. Solid matte bbl. rib with ramped blade front sight and 2-leaf U-notch rear sight. Bolt handle has been cut, swept back, and crudely welded back into place. Number "6435" is stamped on the underside of the bbl., and handwritten in pencil on the interior of the stock. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their period blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some light surface oxidation overall. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent dark pitting and strong rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered marks and minor impressions overall from handling and storage, with a large chip on the left side at the chamber ring.
