Cal. 256 Mag. S# 2994. Bbl. 8 1/2" with ramped base having serrated blade plus 2 factory-drilled and tapped holes for scope base mounting; with plug screws. Mfg. 1964 (1963-1964; approx. 3,300 units) with the latest features of pressed breech block stop pin plus alloy rear sight and ejector housing. Originally owned by Stan Terhune, who was in charge of Ruger's Pine Tree Casting division in Newport, NH. Terhune was a top executive at Ruger for many years. The enclosed invoice, dated May 9, 1974, properly lists it as Model RH28 for $55.55 total and notation that it was "OK'D BY WBR" and that routing was "DEL. BY S. TERHUNE". Standard features include a wide-serrated Super Blackhawk trigger in an alloy XR3-RED grip frame with black eagle medallions on walnut grips and a collared base pin. A very rare pistol with a unique history. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plain white box with brown waxed paper and a 1/3/63 manual with blue ink stamped with a warning about oil in the chamber. The May 9, 1974 factory invoice is noted above. Box edge is grease pencil-marked "2994" plus "RH28" with a red ballpoint pen. End of box marked "Henry Rody", who was a long-time employee, and with his brother William Rodeschin (also a long-time employee), owned Rody's Gun Shop about 1/4 mile from the Newport facility and commonly processed firearms for Ruger with their FFL. CONDITION: butt area of the grip has some very faint marks; balance is near excellent, including bore. (23-6092/NW). CURIO. $2,000-2,500.
