Cal. 44 Mag. S# 126784. Bbl. 18 1/2" with banded brass bead front sight plus folding leaf rear. Mfg. 1968 (1961–1985) as last year before prefix serial numbers per GCA of 1968 plus without magazine (4-round internal tube) release button at loading port. Carbine stock with non-factory added checkering (3 panels on forend plus grip area) and added sling studs. An earlier screw-attached cartridge guide (later examples were riveted) and anodized aluminum buttplate (later examples were plastic). Known for its light weight and easy handling, it is great for close-cover hunting. CONDITION: good to very good metal finish with light high edge thinning and occasional peppery oxidation. The stock set is good, with many light handling marks, no cracks, and very good checkering workmanship. Buttplate with finish loss, proud at toe, plus replacement Phillips head screws. Bore is near excellent. (24-927/NW). CURIO. $650-900.
