Cal. 30 Luger / 9mm Luger. S# 310-34692. Bbl. 4 1/2", stainless. Mfg. 1995 (1994-1995; 5,750 units) and sold ($1,525) by Ruger benefit auction (Light Foundation) on June 6, 2014, with an abundance of unusual markings and features. Noted references by RENE list the P89X serial range from 309-25152 (1994) to 309-89147 (1995). Factory website lists it as Model 03060 in 30 Luger (as does the box label) and shipped in 1995 (test fired 10-20-95). The right side of the slide has boxed "TERHUNE ANTICORRO" (a special stainless alloy); Stan Terhune was director of Ruger's Pin Tree Casting division in Newport, NH (later at the Prescott, AZ factory) and a top Ruger executive. Terhune's name is the only one ever to appear on Ruger firearms other than Ruger's. All standard P89 features, including ambidextrous safety and magazine releases plus a blued 3-dot sight set; a windage-adjustable rear with a pinned front. Ruger logo Xenoy grips with horizontal grooves. Matte-finished with an alloy frame, with all other parts of stainless steel. MAGS: 2 factory 10 rd.; suitable for both calibers. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: standard P89 style gray plastic case without sectional compartment for extra barrel as was normal for the P89X. Box label is orange, listing 30 Luger as the caliber. The manual lists P89,90 94, and 944. A printout summarizing the previous information, plus a factory cardboard shipping sleeve.
