MAG-NA-PORT SAFARI SERIES. Cal. 44 Mag. S# 84-35927. Bbl. 5 1/2" Mag-Na- Ported with a serrated white insert blade mounted on a ramped base (all of which is matte finished to reduce glare), plus an adjustable frame-mounted white outlined rear. Mfg. 1981 (1973 to date) by Ruger with a blued finish, then customized by Larry Kelly of Mag-Na-Port as number 129 of 200 in the 5 revolver Safari series, with 200 units per animal: #1 Cape Buffalo, #2 Elephant, #3 Lion (Shumba), #4 Rhino, and #5 Leopard. Various custom features and barrel lengths for each model were initially offered with deluxe wood presentation case (missing) and a plush interior. This model has a shortened and recrowned (rounded, not squared) barrel from its original 7 1/2" length. All series examples were ported, fitted with exotic wood grips (Zebra wood on this model with scrimshawed lion on right), a high-gloss mirror-deep finish (except for its matte ejector housing), and hand-tuned actions. Right side of the frame engraved with "129"; the topstrap has "Mag-Na-Port" and "SHUMBA" on the backstrap; plus a lion head on the right side of its unfluted cylinder (when properly oriented). All lettering is filled in white. A great carrying revolver known for its quality and durability has been further enhanced by Mag-Na-Port. CONDITION: all aspects are near excellent, including bore with just the faintest cylinder turn line. PROVENANCE: the collection of Gun Sport Ltd., owned by Jon R. Thomas. (23-4171/NW).
