SET. Cal. 44 Mag. S# 8294. Bbl. 7 1/2" with ramped serrated blade on base front sight and period correct fame mounted Micro adjustable rear sight. Mfg. 1961 (1959-1973) with standard "short" grip frame having nicely figured smooth walnut grips with black eagle medallions. Eagle logo and trademark on barrel without "Inc." in address. Proper steel ejector rod housing. Fitted with factory safety conversion kit; original lockwork not included. Face of cylinder stamped with "S" proof and "294". References state that Supers in the 4000 serial range are the highest known for mahogany cases and that the last of the mahogany cases were shipped in April of 1961, so this match up is possible. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory mahogany display case in very good overall condition with typical marks on top of lid and on bottom. "GENUINE MAHOGANY" is stamped much more vividly than usual on the bottom; standard brass hardware with Phillips headed hinge screws. Small crack on cut out insert by area for bottom rear of grip frame. Unusual 45 degree bevel on the top edges of the lid. Very good plus interior with faint marks on the cut out insert. Very good oiled Ruger logo flap holster marked for Super Blackhawk but without typical Bianchi maker's mark. CONDITION: Some especially faint marks on grips with the balance near excellent (including bore and chambers) having factory quality refinish (likely done when safety update was performed). PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe. (25-5530/NW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
