GRIPS & MATCHING BOX. Cal. 22 LR. S# 11708. Mfg. 1955 as Type 2 Flatgate RSS5; S# range 2026 to 24703 (approx. 22,000). Bbl. 5.5" w/ "STURM, RUGER & CO. / SOUTHPORT, CONN., U.S.A.". Blade front sight with serrated rear edge. Square notch dovetailed rear sight. Short-throw steel ejector housing. Blued finish on barrel, ejector housing, frame & 6 shot fluted cyl. Has not had factory safety update; original lockwork. Black anodized "XR3 / ALCOA G" grip frame. Revolver has well fitted stag grips with black Eagle medallions & very light finger grooves on left grip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory black & red original box w/ matching number written in pen along label end of box. Box in mostly good condition with large tear through corner of label end. Box contains Sturm, Ruger & Co. Instructions And Parts List for Single-Six Revolvers. Original checkered hard rubber grips. CONDITION: overall very fine to near excellent. Barrel, frame, cyl. & ejector housing have over 95% blue with light wear on left edge of muzzle & cyl. wear in notches. Loading gate shows significantly more wear to exterior than other parts and has metal removed from rear inside likely to facilitate opening. Over 95% Black anodized finish on grip frame with scattered small streaks of wear on back strap & butt. Bore is near excellent having great shine & strong rifling; muzzle area acquiring a light frosting. Stag and factory black grips are in very good condition; light wear to checkering.
