PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. S# 17-02825. Bbl. 4 3/4" with blued Patridge blade, plus "1 of 5000" on right side; standard blued windage drift adjustable rear sight on receiver. Mfg. 1982 during last year of Standard Auto model (1949-1982) in stainless having "William B. Ruger" signature likeness on top left of receiver. Trigger is black for corresponding appearance, as is solid base of stainless magazine. Packaged in salt cod type box, like originals of 1949 & 1950, with black eagle logo on lid. Original pre-dealer shipments were sent by REA, which required the durable wooden box. Interior red cardboard box has hinged top, like originals, plus reproduction of $37.50 advertising brochure. The immense popularity of the model prompted Bill Ruger to hold out about 1,600 to be given away to dignitaries and for other special events. Serial numbers ranged from 17-00000 to 17-05000. In 2003, 600 were used as special offerings at Friends of NRA fundraising dinners. Grips are checkered black plastic having a silver eagle medallion with red background; original medallions had red eagles that were changed to black upon Alexander Sturm's death in 1951. MAGS: 1 factory 9 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: above mentioned box set (red box hinge is detached), plus outer shipping sleeve and paperwork.
