Cal. 22 LR. S# 200163. Bbl. 4-5/8" with blade sight and without "INC." in address; drift adjustable notched rear sight properly retained by set screw under top strap rather than by friction as done with steel models. Mfg. 1956 (1956-1959 for all Lightweights) as first variation (3,700 units) with serrated ejector rod head, golden brown Martin Hard Coat on its all alloy cylinder and flat loading gate. Lightweights numbered in 200000 series with about 21,000 made to later include 2 all blue variations: LWAC (Lightweight Alloy Cylinder) and LWSC (Lightweight Steel Cylinder). Standard Tri-Colored features include natural finished alloy cylinder frame, steel long throw offset ejector housing, non drilled through base pin latch, early "skinny" curved trigger and black XR3 grip frame with checkered hard rubber grips. Very desirable early example (#163) with original lockwork; not factory safety updated. Lightweight Single-Six was way ahead of its time by Ruger and not well received by buyers due to unfounded concerns about aluminum's durability. CONDITION: very good original finish with minimal marks on the cylinder. Slight finish loss at muzzle and fading or thinning on barrel. Couple of faint high point wear marks on grip frame. Minimal paint loss on black eagles of grip medallions and slight firing residue near firing pin bushing plus at rear of barrel. Light staining on sides of hammer. Near excellent bore and grips. (23-6250/NW). CURIO. $750-1,000.
