MAUSER BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 482d. Bbl. 23 1/2" with TGI import marking. Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Original matching German numbers on receiver, bbl., and front sight. Matching Soviet-added numbers on the bolt body, floorplate, and left side of the stock; other parts are unnumbered or mismatched. Receiver top has a "243" marking for Mauser Borsigwalde and a 1940 date. Left side of the receiver has an intact party eagle and a Russian capture "X" marking. Dull Soviet arsenal-rework blue. Locking screws and cleaning rod are missing. Laminated stock set with cupped buttplate and left side sling provisions. Stock also has an added recoil bolt through the bolt cutout. CONDIITON: stock has arsenal-added shellac with scattered dings, handling marks, and some flaking. Metal retains 80% of its arsenal rework blue, with some blued-over pitting, fading, dings, and light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Bore has scattered frosting and pitting but strong rifling. (24-2266/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
