Cal. 40. NSN. Bbl. 38". Full stock percussion Kentucky rifle mfg. by R.W. Booth in Cincinnati, OH. The lockplate is embellished with light scroll engraving, with a scene of a hunter and hunting dog on the left. Center of lockplate exhibits a partially visible "RW BOOTH/ CINCINNATI" makers mark. Heavy octagonal bbl. with brass blade front sight and notch rear sight. Wood full stock featuring a German silver panel, inlaid onto the cheekpiece on the left side of the butt. Brass buttplate, triggerguard, ramrod ferrules, and nosecap. Ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a dark gray patina, with areas of oxidation and pitting overall. Lockplate and bbl. exhibit corrosion around the percussion bolster, which has partially obscured part of the makers mark. Bbl. tang is missing a section at the rear. Stock exhibits scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with losses present around the lockplate, a crack on the right side of the forend, as well as a period repaired break at the wrist. Brass components exhibit a dark brown patina overall. (01-24520/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-400.
