Cal. 35 Rem. S# 132. John Moses Browning designed his autoloading rifle throughout the later half of the 1890's. His partnership with Fabrique Nationale started with his 1899 Patent pistol, which was a great success. His agreements with FN, Colt & Remington brought great success. Remington eventually handled the US production of his Auto 5 & Auto Rifle (Model 11 & 8) while the European production was handled by FN. His 1900 patent rifle was his first semi automatic rifle. Bbl. 22". Barrel jacket has sling swivel, plain matte rib, bead front sight & U notch rear sight. Blued finish. High hump long recoil action has integral single stack magazine. Checkered walnut stock set w/ light schnable tip, horn scalloped grip cap, left side raised cheekpiece, toeline swivel & FN buttplate. CONDITION: over 80% original barrel jacket blue with several spots & large area of pitting on right side, along with light fading & marks. Action has over 80% original blue with 2 larges of deep pitting on left side with scattered sm. spots of deep pitting, along side scattered sm. spots of patina, scratches & marks. Wood has good original finish showing numerous large & small dings, gouges & scratches. Good appearing grip cap & buttplate with large scuffs. Very good strong & shiny rifling. (25-4461/MD).
