Cal. 38 Long Colt. S# 5627. Bbl. 6" with integral semi-circular blade sight having factory markings on top. 1,000 mfg. 1900 within S# 5001-6000. Matching numbered bbl., cyl. & extractor. "I" within 5 pointed star on bottom of barrel flat and rear face of cylinder. Round butt without provision for lanyard loop has "U.S.N.", anchor symbol, "38 D.A.", "B" within a triangle and "No 583 C.A.B."; 583 is military number. Military version of 38 Military and Police Model manufactured 1899-1902 with 4 screw sideplate; no screw in front of triggerguard. Checkered diamond center factory walnut grips without medallions. Case colored trigger and hammer. CONDITION: good overall appearance with light marks and scratches throughout. Slight gray patina on cylinder and sideplate. Mottled appearance on much of cylinder, right side of frame and grip area. Thumb print sized light pitting on right side of barrel at muzzle and occasional peppery oxidation throughout. Good grips with light marks and hand wear. Near excellent bore and chambers. (22-6049/NW). CURIO. $500-750.
