Cal. 38 S&W. S# 35524. Bbl. 4" pinned with integral 1/2 moon blade front sight; square notched frame rear sight. Top of barrel with patent dates, S&W markings on left plus caliber and "REGULATION POLICE" on right. Mfg. 1917-1940 (54,474 units) on I frame with 4 screw sideplate plus screw in front of trigger guard. Round butt frame with shouldered backstrap having diamond center checkered walnut square butt grips that are without medallions and with proper stamped patent date on bottom of left grip. Flat hammer spring and checkered thumbpiece latch. Matching numbers on frame (frontstrap), barrel (additionally with "B" to indicate blued finish), cylinder (5 rd.) and extractor. Case colored smooth faced trigger and finely checkered hammer. CONDITION: good plus appearance of factory quality refinish. Areas of peppery oxidation on frame and hammer plus heavier oxidation on top strap. Very faint cylinder turn line. Ejector rod is resistive in some positions. Good plus grips with slight handling marks and hand wear plus very small chip at top front of left grip. Near excellent bore.
