25, 1876. The drawing depicts the soldier with drawn revolver, holding on to what appears to be a broken lance, seated on the ground and surrounded by arrows that have fallen around him. A broken cavalry sword on the ground beside him. The drawing is inscribed "Sgt. Robert Huges, K. Co., 7th Cav. / June 25 1876" above the scene and below "For John & Mary duMont, many thanks, Erin von Schmidt / October 8, 1976". Housed in a gold leaf molded frame, matted under glass. SIZE: overall 22" x 20", work is 16" x 14". CONDITION: very good with uniform yellow toning at the mat edges. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection.
